Celebrating 3 Years at Core HR! - James' Favourite Things About Working with Us.
Three years at Core HR! It’s hard to believe that it was three years ago I started a new adventure in the world of HR consultancy. I can’t believe I’ve blinked and learnt, seen, and done so much. I thought it would only be right to mark the occasion by sharing a list of my 5 favourite things about working within an HR consultancy.
1. Working with amazing groups of clients: every day I work with a variety of clients who all share a similar goal – making their workplace the best place to work for their employees. Every business and leader I work with is deeply passionate about creating an organisation that values people and creates the best environment for these people to thrive. We learn a lot from each other, but for everything they learn from us about HR, I am constantly learning about their business, people, and way of working. It’s a privilege each and every day to be a part of their journey of creating a better workplace.
2. Problem-solving: partnering with a business to try and identify and solve their most complex problems sounds (and sometimes feels like!) a daunting task. Working through identifying the issues, and developing and implementing a plan, is no mean feat, but to be able to look back down the track, whether it be months or years later, and see the progress is super rewarding. Likewise, partnering with a small group of a couple of people who need the benefit of an outside eye or voice to bring reason or perspective to the room, can achieve what would have been months of progress in just a fraction of the time.
3. The diversity of activity and learning: I can truly say that no two days in my world are the same. Some people are process-orientated, and others are people-orientated; in truth, I’m a pretty even mix of both. The variety of activities within the HR remit allows me to enjoy this and is full of learning and reward! For a bit of context, a day in the office can range from developing and implementing new HR policies, processes or strategies, training and development, employee engagement, recruitment, payroll, disciplinary and disputes, restructures, coaching and mediation. Having a role that allows me to learn new skills and harness every aspect of my skill set is amazing.
4. Having impact: being an empowered and trusted advisor allows us to play a crucial role in providing feedback and insight into the direction and activity of the business across all things ‘people’. This can range from BAU decisions, like helping a business or manager make a decision about their next hire and who we think will be the best fit within their team, to once-in-a-while milestones like helping develop a long-term vision, strategy and action plan.
5. Collaborating with the amazing Core HR Team! Our team are amazing, the best people to work with and work for. They are also exceptionally talented in their fields of HR, Payroll and Recruitment. If you want to experience their talents for yourself and need HR Support – reach out to us anytime!
